- In 1998, Stratford Winterfest began as a one-day event. Over a decade later, it has become a series of community events, culminating in a 4-day weekend of wintery, family fun. Originally coordinated by the Leisure Activity Council, the Civic Beautification and Environmental Awareness Committee and the Perth Active Living Committee (now defunct), Stratford Winterfest is coordinated and run by an independent committee of approximately ten members from the community and local organizations.
- With a generous, annual grant from the City of Stratford and through hosting a variety of events throughout the year, the Winterfest committee has been fortunate enough to raise their average annual budget to just over $30,000, inviting families and vendors from all across Ontario to particpate.
- With each year comes a unique Winterfest experience. With themes like On The Move, The Circus and A Little Bit of Country, each year attracts new events and vendors to Lower Queen’s Park. Annual events include Yuk Yuks night, the Snowman Stroll, Badminton Club Family Night, Big Screen Movie Night, Stratford Community Centre Teen Dance, Manulife Walk for Memories Fun Run and the Pancake breakfast provide entertainment for the entire family. And with the support of Ice Culture Inc., each year the Avon River is graced with hand-carved ice sculptures and ice carving shows.
- Stratford Winterfest could not be made possible without the help of the community’s generous volunteers and local businesses.
